Wednesday update, February 3rd, 2010

Hey, all! Good to be back on the blog after being under the weather last week... =)

Thanks to all of you who attended youth group this last Sunday! It was great to see so many upper-classmen there, as well as new faces all around. I know we still have more students planning to attend upcoming gatherings, so our numbers will continue to grow!

We had many good discussions, including topics around the earthquake in Haiti, politics and the State of the Union address, movies and the upcoming Olympic games. Thank you to Tucker for volunteering to compile our movie conversation into a list of possible discussion-starting films for sometime in the future!

Here's a look at the upcoming events and schedule for the SUCC Youth:

Sunday, February 7th: NO YOUTH GROUP (Due to the Super Bowl--maybe a mass gathering for the Super Bowl next year?)

Saturday, February 13th (1-4 pm): Baking goodies at the church for shut-ins and other ministries

Sunday, February 14th: NO YOUTH GROUP (Due to our Saturday activity)

Sunday, February 21st: 5:30-6:15 Youth Council (in Emily's office, BYODinner); 6:30-8 Youth Group

Sunday, February 28th: 6:30-8 pm Youth Group

Future Dates:

Friday, March 12th-Saturday, March 13th: Highpoint Lock-In with Youth and Truth (details to follow)

Sunday, March 28th: Possible assisting with Palm Sunday worship

Sunday, July 25th-Saturday, July 31st: Mission Trip to West Virginia.

Saturday, February 13th: Making cookies and baked goods together at the church for Salem UCC’s shut-ins and homebound members

Sunday, February 14th: NO YOUTH GROUP MEETING (due to our service project on Saturday)

Sunday, February 21st: 5:30 Youth Council; 6:30-8 pm Freeman Hall

Sunday, February 28th: 6:30-8 pm Freeman Hall

Youth Group Meeting JANUARY 24th, 2010 6:30pm-8:00pm

Hey all!

The Salem UCC Youth Group will begin meeting regularly again, starting SUNDAY, JANUARY 24TH, 2010 from 6:30pm-8:00pm in Freeman Hall, right across from the church.

We will share in some pizza and soda, and I'd love to hear about the mission and fellowship events that you'd like to see in the next few months.

Hello, all! Welcome to the new Salem UCC Youth Ministry blog! My name is Emily Olson, and I'm the new youth director here at Salem. I set up this site so that students, adults and other interested members can stay on the 'up and up' with what is going on in the youth ministry of Salem UCC.
